The mission of the Lower Paxton Township Arts Advisory Council is to promote and support the arts, encourage participation in the arts by people of all ages, and create an environment in which arts experiences are an integral part of community life.
The Lower Paxton Township Arts Council is sponsoring three events in the near future.
On Tuesday May 16 at 7:00 p.m. all interested persons are invited to the Friendship Center to join in a discussion of Thank You for Being Late by Thomas Friedman. The book is a work of contemporary history, sub-titled “An Optimist’s Guide to Thriving in the Age of Accelerations”. The event is free and light refreshments will be available.
On Friday May 19 at 6:30 p.m. at the Friendship Center there will be a free showing of the 1953 film, Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, with expert commentary by Jamie Caffier. Ms. Caffier has formerly served as drama director for CD East High School and as a Penn State lecturer and professor. Light refreshments will be available.
On Tuesday June 6 at 7:00 p.m. at the Friendship Center the Friends of the East Shore Area Library will join the Arts Council to co-host an Author’s Night featuring Sherry Ostroff , author of The Lucky One. Ms. Ostroff will present background for her book dealing with her mother’s harrowing pre-WWII experiences in western Russia and her ultimate immigration to the United States. The event is free but it is helpful to call the Friendship Center at 717-657-5635 or sign up at the front desk if you plan to attend.
